Dilf the Dilfman Dilfer

After another frustrating discussion with my brother about the Browns and Trent Dilfer, a new poll was created. How many wins will the Browns have with Dilfer as QB?

none against the Steelers or Baltimore. I would suggest an 6-10 Season would be a huge accomplishment. Cleveland blows
Dilfer is stupid, cant run, has no running game and the defense is SLOW-Big but SLOW. Speed kills in the NFL. Good lUCK to the "mistake on the lake" you're gonna need it. Where is trainig camp this year, Cedar Point?

Argh. I can take the one-liners from the last two comments, but the pseudo-analysis from Anonymous is too much.

Let's break it down:
"none vs. Pit or Bal". Why not? Does 20-3 ring a bell? We got one last year, and we are certainly a better team than last year. You have to admit that.

"Dilfer is stupid". I don't know a stupid Super Bowl winning QB (well, besides Bradshaw). We'll see if Dilfer is that, but I'm betting no, based on his track record.

"has no running game". Hmmm.... so that's why we got Droughns.

"defense is SLOW". Guess what? You are right! That's why 6 starters from last year are GONE. We addressed that problem- Brown, Warren, Griffith, Little, Ekuban - all gone.

Pseudo-analysis. I hate it.

Oh, and I forgot the O-line, which will help the running game as well. Coleman, Andruzzi and Shelton are our new starters. Coleman was a starter for TB, Andruzzi was a starter for NE, and Shelton for Az. They are replacing folks like Enoch DeMar (a Maryland grad - a good guy, but the talent is just not there), Joaquin Gonzalez and Kelvin Garmon. I'd say that's a good upgrade.

I agree that Dilfer might not be stupid, but if basing your opinion on Dilfer on the fact he lead the Ravens to the Superbowl, then I would be extremely worried. His job was to do one thing...No Turnovers. Don't think, Don't make plays, just don't turn the ball over and let J. Lewis and the defense win the games. When you let him make decisions and plays, he turns the ball over (see TB stats). And I don't think you have the running game or the defense to allow him to do that.

Pseudo-analysis.
I was trying to keep it simple for yur Brownies to understand.
Please print and save my analysis. See how many times Dilfer "wins" a games for the browns versus how many times he "loses" it for them. If I remember correctly he has never thrown for over 3000 yards in a season, played only 10 or 11 games in his Superbowl season and was traded the very next year. His style of play is to not make mistakes, ball control etc. Against the Steelers and Ravens you must have the ability to check/read. He can't audible, his checks aganst cover 2 and cover 4 are often incorrect. I would stack 8 and bring 5 every play against him. His career will be over by game 10. I saw the man play many times in person and on TV and he has lost his game. He has also difficulty spotting the run/run combos versus calling the sprint passes. Need more?
Can Droughns catch the ball? How many times will he fumble? As a cut back runner can he succeeed outside of Denver whose blocking scheme is designed to allow for backside gains?
Will your defensive additions make any difference? At best this Cleveland team is unproven and 2-3 years away from success and a winning record.
