T.O.

This post isn't to comment on T.O.'s actions or whether he was an idiot or not, but rather what type of impact will this have on the team.

Eric made some statements to me a couple of minutes ago that the Eagles will go 6-10 without Owens, since he is simply the most important person to any team in the league, and without him they will be a sub .500 team. I can't really argue with him on this since I can only think of maybe Manning and Brady being more important than TO to their own respective teams.

Theismann states that the Eagles are built on defense and the Eagles won't miss TO that much. King states that the Eagles have two outstanding rookie WR that might be ready to step up.

Even with these two rookie WRs stepping up, I have to agree with Eric that without TO, the Eagles are a 6-10 team. TO's impact was tremendous last year, up until he got hurt and then when he played in the Superbowl. I respect him as a player and I really could care less about his contract dispute, since owners regularly cut players before their contracts are up anyway.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. And if TO is gone from the Eagles, who will win the NFC East and with what record?

Personally, I would like someone to stand up to T.O. But I doubt that would happen.

I was on a talk radio station almost at the end of last season debating with some DJ/Sports Guy on would I rather have Moss or Owens.

My argument was that I would rather have Moss. Owens is a great player, but he is a disease. The DJ said that Owens had not been a problem and blah blah blah. I explained that the Eagles only lost 1 game and Owens has no reason to be a problem, I told the DJ to wait and see how he is when the Eagles are 6 and 10.

Its nice to know that my points on Owens came to truth even without the team having a losing season and that Sports Guy DJ has been long fired.

I hope Owens sits out this year and picks up a European Basketball contract...Good Bye!

As for the comment on 6 and 10. I agree, and they may be worse. The Eagles receiving core is Owens, their rookies aren't ready. Greg Lewis, or whatever his name is, makes 1 catch all year (in the Super Bowl) against a prevent defense and becomes a superstar???? Doubt it.

I thought the Eagles made the playoffs last year when TO was on the sidelines? If my memory serves me correct-didn't they win EVERY playoff game without him to get to the Super Bowl? The reason the Eagles win is DEFENSE not offense. Give me odds on that 6-10 season with out TO and I will take'em. As for who wins the NFC East-thats easy-the Eagles.

TO doesnt block for the running game his attitude is detrimental to team play, and without the BEST PLAYER IN FOOTBALL throwing him the ball, he is an good player on any other team. He can put up some good numbers, but overall, his impact to the Eagles will not be greatly missed should he leave.
He had a chance to be the HERO of that town, I gained much respect for him with his injury comeback. What a stupid ass,he could have made 10 times his salary in endorsements and product sales. He would've been hotter than the Philly cheesesteak. I guess you can take the n---from the hood but you cant take the hood from the n----. What does he think this is -a shell game hustle?

i'm with the slammer on the 6-10 assessment. they won't be as bad as everyone seems to think. but i could be blinded by all the eagle fans spinning the story here around the office. that's another bad thing about central PA - if you're not hearing people shout out E-A-G-L-E-S, you're hearing people talk about the black and gold.

i'm not with the slammer's colloquialism though. that's tough...man enough to invoke the thought, but not enough nutsack to put the full word out there? reads as much puss as it does ignorance.

There are few people who would like to see the Eagles 6-10 more than me, but I just don't see how it is going to happen. This team was 13-3 last year with T.O. and 12-4 the year before him. Is chemistry going to make a 6-7 game swing? Their out of conference schedule is tougher this year, but McNabb is also much better than he was then. And Pinkston and Mitchell? Who cares? Pinkston is the star of the two and averages less than 3 TD and 563 yards per year. Mitchell? 316 yards/year (1263 total) and 5 career TDs (in 4 years). A couple of rookies can't fill those numbers?

If the schedule is worth a couple of extra losses and chemistry is worth a couple of extra losses, then this is a 8-8 team at worst and I think that it's probably more like a 10-ish win team. The rest of the division is just not going to take it from the Eagles. The Eagles have lost one NFC East game in two years! And that was at Dallas, 21-23. Yes, the rest of the division has improved, but they all still have major questions.

And Slammer, McNabb isn't even the best QB in the NFC, much less football, so let's not get carried away.

I believe that Vikings have a good shot at taking the division if Williamson turns out to be the player he was drafted to be.

Its no contest, Culpepper is a much better quarterback than McNabb. McNabb eats too much chunky soup.

i hate to say this, but has anyone had the chance to see vick throw a ball in person. everything on a string, i tell you. he's obviously not as consistent as mcnappy cornrows or culpepper, but i rate him pretty high on pure talent alone.

Two quick comments on this.

-Mcnabb is so overrated. Nice guy, can run, is a solid leader, but he is just not accurate. It took a guy like Owens to take him to the next level. Can you imagine Vick in an offense like the Eagles that allows him to scramble and be creative? That Atlanta coach should be fired for sticking Vick in a West Coast Offense.

- Have to agree with Curr on the fact that the media, especially in PA, is trying to underplay the impact of TO. But once again, who will win the East instead of the Eagles?

I agree with the 6-10 comment because of the current state of the receiving core. The Eagles - now - have nobody to catch the ball. If they trade for another WR (Andre Davis??), then the value of TO decreases and his leverage is diminished.

And their defense? I'm sorry, I'm not impressed. I saw the Browns (!?) hang 31 on the Eagles last year and completely dominated the running game. Maybe it was a one-game aberration, but it still was Jeff Garcia, Lee Suggs and the Browns.
