The best place for information that I have found on the absolute destruction in New Orleans and other gulf coast cities is at: www.brendanloy.com.
If these stories and reports are true - 1) they seem valid and 2) there's no reason to openly doubt these - then there are some terrible things going on down there now, and it looks like New Orleans is in some serious trouble.
The magnitude of the damage seems to be lacking on CNN and other news channels.

In Biloxi, the Grand Casino River Boat broke off of its dock and floated 500 yards inland and is now destroyed. Makes me laugh that a boat is now destroyed because it floated 500 yards.
