Ahhh Memories

As a NE fan, it was great to see the Pete Carroll Face resurface after all these years!! That look as his "defense" was getting chewed up time and time again. You had a feeling that USC was going to lose, since their offense was bailing them out several times this year (Fresno, ND). Somewhere their D had to make a play, and they couldn't. Vince Young was a total beast. His college performance reminded me of Larry Johnson's (UNLV) performance when they throttled Duke in the championship game (103 to 70 or something??), LJ was a total man among boys that night, and VY was the same. The way they were bouncing off of him, he looked like he was playing against High Schoolers.

And, yes I feel good that all of LA is feeling lousy today! You can't have nice weather in January and win National Championships too, that isn't fair to the rest of us.

VY was amazing. I'm totally speachless about his performance. The guys that he was making miss are probably going to be LB in the NFL in a couple of years, so its not like he was just schooling some chumps. Not saying that he was going up against the best D, just that he was making everything look so easy against pro talent. With that showing he just moved into the top 5 in the draft.

With that being said, USC still should of won and totally gave that game away. Bush is an idiot, Leinhart isn't Manning so he shouldn't be calling his own plays at the line, and Carroll should of given the ball 50 times to White since no one could stop him. But that isn't Carroll's style and it finally caught up to him. And can someone explain to me how you waste your last timeout with 19 seconds left on the 2 point conversion?

Championship Game/Championship Team Coaching blunders.

I don't care if you have the greatest offense ever...4th and 1 on the 50 you punt that ball and make Texas go 80 yards instead of 50. Grant it I wanted USC to score also to cover but, gambling aside...

The Texas win made me happy for a number of reasons:

1.) Leinart's cockiness is off the charts, evidenced by his end of game quote USC is the better team. You lost the game up 12 with 6 to play, you aren't.

2.) Reggie Bush is amazing, but LenDale White is vastly underrated, as is the USC offensive line. You've got to go for 4th at midfield, in an attempt to win the game, as opposed to not losing the game.

3.) Jackson and (especially) Fouts are terrible announcers, openly rooting for USC to win. I couldn't be happier the USC love-fest comes to an end. The bandwagon derailed at 12:35 AM EST.

On another note, could Texas be the best college team of all time? On a final note, I was impressed with the Will Ferrell/Matt M.... lead in.

Ha...USC lovefest. The team almost threepeated for the love of GOD!!!! If this was a team back East, I'm sure Dan Patrick and Stu Scott head's would of exploded.

"Carroll should have given the ball 50 times to White since no one cold stop him" - DZ

Uh, what? What about that last play.
I'm now OK with Carroll going for it int he 4th quarter - but not using Bush at all? Questionable play call. That play was so big, you need to use your talent at QB or Bush. If they're so good, how come they didn't get the call?

"Threepeat" - DZ
Uh, no.

"Texas should have thrown the deep ball more and the game wouldn't have been close." - Slammer

Well, every time I saw Texas pass, the TE was open for a 15 yeard gain over the middle in a gap in the seam. They did that time and time again - without USC adjusting. Why try something different when that is open all the time?

And Slammer, get your facts right. If you think Vince is a top 10 pick (which he undoubtely is) - then the Browns have no chance at him. Check the standings and the draft position....
oh, that's right, you will after Sunday afternoon when your team goes down.

"{leinart is cocky} evidenced by his end of game quote USC is the better team. "- RRD

Boy, am I sorry I missed this. I heard about it and the ripping he hasbeen taking. He must truly be shocked to lose this game.

The one call people are not talking about is the FG in the 1st quarter that they didn't attempt - instead, Leinart did a QB sneak. That came back to haunt them. You have been dominating the game up untilthat point - Texas has done nothing on O - you need to keep putting points on the board. Do not give them any momentum.
