As I watched USC butcher the National Championship Game, I decided to write down my personal 2006 expectations. This is more detailed than the "What are my new years resolutions", which never result in anything. If I take a corporate look at my personal life and come up with a 2006 Strategy and put some measurements to them, they might actually result in something positive. Like any Performance Review or PPR that is given to you by your boss at the beginning of the year, I will have several categories with certain weights associated to each, along with a due dates. I'll have the members of the blog rate my performance every quarter so I know how I'm doing. And yes, I know I'm opening myself up to Lee's usual gay comment, or Eric's question on why I didn't include any gambling lessons to improve my picks, so I'm ready for it. So here it goes:
Category Breakdown: For way too long I have put too much weight on Career Development and Travel. To be honest with you it probably has made up of 90% of the shit that I did for over 3 years now. So this year, with the job change, I will be able to spread out my time to concentrate on everything else. I have removed my career development from my PPR, which will be a major shift in my priorities.

Now I know who you are!!!!!!! :)
this sounds like the first stage of a mid-life crisis.
my 2 cents....
1) start college funds for nephews? you gotta be selfish here. that money is better off in your roth (if you have one). the parents (as in either your bro or your folks) are for setting up the funds. give gifts if you want, but no need to contribute on regular basis. nice gesture, sure. but a stupid one.
2) entertainment has no validitiy without goals for video games, web surfing and porn.
3) shouldn't your half-marathons and triathlons be linked with the back in shape category? in training for those, you'll definitely drop your weight and it's hardly entertaining. you fat fuck.
4) good luck reducing debt and buying a house. speaking of which, i'd speed up the deadline for the advisor. get him/her in quicker to help you plan for school, house buying and reducing debt. that's why you'd get an advisor, dumbass. if you're going to do it, do it right.
Curr,
1. The kid is my godson and I want to do more than just stupid toys and crap. Maybe a small roth for the kid would be better.
2. This is sort of a given and does not need to be documented.
3. I have completed a couple of 1/2 marathons and other races and this doesn't equate to losing weight. I was running almost 90 minutes a day last year and it did not result in losing weight.
4. Agreed
I hope this comment doesn't get lost, but...
how in the hell can you run 90 minutes per day and not lose weight?
It's either:
1) you were running 90 minutes at a 20 min/mile pace, or
2) drinking Strawberry McDonald's milkshakes while you run. 1000 calories each, baby!
Running is not fun. Why do it if you're not getting results.
And for Curr's advice about the advisor? Right on - get one as soon as possible.
Eric,
It is very easy. After the 90 minute run, you eat a shit load of carbs. I was eating all the time to keep my energy up. Was I in shape?? Yep, but I was still a 38 and maintained my weight. Now I probably could of eaten better, but I didn't so that is why my running is in a different category than the weight loss.
And I have a meeting with a FP next week.
Two things...
1. You will be hearing "Godfather" from Jon and I a lot ;)
2. Ask Amy about the FP stuff, that's what she wants to be when she grows up
