Week 2 NFL Picks - "That's too much!"

Here we go - picks for week 2. A couple of the games have shocked me with their line - I can't believe it is that large. It's like the Price Is Right game - "That's Too Much!" When I saw the TB line, and the Dallas line, I immediately yelled "THAT'S TOO MUCH!!!!" like a good TPiR contestant.

I will start with the 1:00 games that I have no clue about:

Chi 17, Det 10. Does Detroit really have a good defense, after stopping Seattle for 9 last week?

Atl 20, TB 19. No clue. I'm still not convinced in Atlanta - yet.

Min 17, Car 16. Another game where I'm not sure about either team. Is Carolina going to continue to struggle without Smith? Is Minnesota decent, or is Washington that bad?

Mia 20, Buf 13. The 11 day rest will certainly help the Dolphins.

Cle 24, Cin 20. The Browns will bounce back - will it be enough for them to win?

Indy 20, Houston 9. There will be a lot of long Indy drives eating up a lot of clock.

NO 20, GB 13. Can you imagine the media next week if the Saints are 2-0 going into a Monday night game - at home -the home opener at teh Superdome?

Bal 24, Oak 3. Can they make this line high enough?

Phi 27, NYG 24. What a great game this is going to be.

StL 30, San Fran 23. I'm going with the "SF has no defense" thesis until rpoven wrong.

Sea 24, Az 17. Defenses will rule this game.

SD 20, Ten 13. A lot of running, a lot of eating the clock.

NE 27, NYJ 16. NY will stay in this for a while - but the arm of Brady will tear up the Jet's D late. We saw it last week vs. the Titans.

Den 24, KC 10. Do we really know what to expect from the Chiefs now?

Dal 23, Was 20. A close game - aren't they all?

Pit 17, Jax 13. Keep picking them until they lose.

Now, for the best bets: 16 of them:

(record : 5-9-1. Derek is 6-10).
Ind/Hou under 47 1/2
NO -2
Bal -12 1/2
Bal/OOak Under 34
NYG/Phi over 41 1/2
TB +5.5
StL -3
Stl/SF Over 43 1/2
Az/Sea Under 47
Ten +11.5
NE -6
NE/NYJ Over 37
Den -10 1/2
Was +6 1/2
Was/Dal Over 36 1/2
Pit/Jax Under 37 1/2

Here we go. I have switched my picks about 4 times. So many trap games that I don't like. The most interesting one is the KC Denver game. Denver has to play better than the week before and KC has the Ewing theory working for it. Is Seattle O that bad or are the Lions legit? I'm going with Seattle being that bad.

Indy Under 47.5
Baltimore 13- this is getting a little too high for me though. The Ravens are that good to be favored by close to 2 TDs.

USC -17.5 (Eric check with Jeremy)
Cleveland-10.5
Bears -7.5
Philly -2.5
NO -2
Rams Over 43.5
Jax -3
AZ +7
Denver Under 38.5
Jets +6
Maimi -6.5- pains me to take this game. Culpepper will fuck it up somehow.
Atlanta -4.5
Giants Under 41.5
Indy -13
MN -2.5
Dallas -6.5

OK Eric, for some reasons I put in too many picks. Here they are again.

Philly -2.5
NO -2
Rams Over 43.5

It pained you to take Miami, in which you made a brilliant call on Culpepper screwing it up, then you get to erase that and you still go with Miami instead of Indy???

You went from my hero to a zero.

Hey Eric, still think 6.5 was too much for the Dallas game?

THAT'S TOO MUCH!!!!!

Um, that's too much of Bruneel and that pathetic offense of the Skins. Goodness, Brunell makes Frye look like a Pro-Bowler.

Was that right ? A 29 QB rating late in the 4th?

Winslow is nothing if not deserving of a marquee role in the CLE offense.

Let the Brady Quinn sweepstakes begin!

Normally (and I think Derek would back me on this), I am more of a management person. Players should shut upand not cause trouble.

Not this time. Go Winslow.

He is RIGHT ON with his comments about the coaching staff. FOUR times in the game he was ON THE BENCH when we had a 3rd and 5 (or 6, or 8, or 4).

Why the hell are we SITTING our (arguable) best offensive player in those situations.

Our OC (Maurice Carthon) is an idiot. He needs to be fired. If Winslow helps that process along by calling him out, so be it.

And yes, this could get ugly quick.

And no, I don't want brady Quinn, the overhyped soap opera hunk.

Shoot me if we draft Brady Quinn. Make it quick and painless.

When does Troy Smith enter the draft?

Eric Z said...

Wow. Some great picking here.

Derek is now 14-18, I am 13-16-2.

Funny how no one wants Quinn, which begs the question, what NCAA QBs are NFL caliber?

My top 5 -

5. Brian Brohm
4. Troy Smith
3. Brady Quinn
2. Chad Henne
1. Pat White

Boy, everyone was on Quinns jock last year. What changed? One bad game? Now Henne looked amazing, but that was against a very poor ND defense. People tend to forget that the defense sucked last year and got worse this year.
