What were you doing then?
Warren, our youngest son, was not baptized yet. We still lived in Cincinnati - and planning to move to Iowa.
Howard Dean was the frontrunner for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
We were two weeks away from Aaron *(*#@^%^ Boone.
And that was the last time the Browns have won two games in a row.
Look, the game this weekend was wonderful. It was a culmination of an offense that we dreamed of having - but a realistic dream given our acquistions. When you sit back in the offseason and play the "if" game...
if we get good offensive line play, THEN
Jamal will have holes which will then force the D to play the run
AND then that will open up the field for KW II and Braylon
SO if we get some good QB...well, this could be a top 10 offense!
Well, for one week, it came true.
Now, the big test. Can we put it together for two weeks in a row?
That's why this week is so big for us. The Browns over the past few years would play at a high level - then revert back to the inept Browns for two, three weeks. They have been complete teases.
This offense has me excited long term. No, of course we are not going to score 50 every game. But why not 20-28 a game? If we do that, that's good for a solid 6-7 wins. Defense still has questions, and I hope we can play better on that side of the ball. But, in fairness:
- this was the Bengals, home of so many offensive talents, and
- we gave the Steelers 17 points week 1, so the 34-7 loss was not as bad as it seems defensively.
People are starting to notice what weapons we have offensively. We saw what an offensive running at 100% the whole game can do. Now, if Romeo can only get that offense to perform at 70% of that level consistently, then we may have something here.
But is this a one-week tease? Or can we string two good performances in a row? That's why this game is huge.
Just think if Oakland would have won Sunday vs. Denver. If that occured, that would have mean that the winner of this game would be 2-1.
Let's hope the winner of this game will be 2-1. It's a big big big big test for this team. String it together, boys.
