Quick Question

On "Today", Katie showed a poll where 77% of Americans were pessimistic about the economy.

Yet, in March, consumer confidence is at a 6-year high.

My question is obvious: how can these two results co-exist?

And before you say "gas prices", ask yourself what sacrifices you have made because of the gas prices. I haven't heard anyone make tough choices yet. Yes, people complain about it, but it hasn't affected any actions. I truly believe that nothing will happen (more commutes, less vacations) until gas its $7-$8 / gallon. But this is another discussions for another day.

Can anyone else explain the two survey results?
