Down with Suzyn
I've been wanting to post this for a while, but I keep on forgetting to do it, but after another extremely poor performance, I can't ignore it anymore. For those of you that have XM Radio, and listen to the baseball games, there is this lady that does the color analysis for the Yankees who is quite possibly the worst person on radio to date. Her name is Suzyn Waldman. Now her Clemens episode was bad, but then she had another one when Wil Nieves had his first major league hit last week. I don't have audio of that, but you have to trust me, it was terrible. Why is she on the radio?

She actually started as a broadway singer from Boston. She used to be the wfan yankee reporter, and would pop up all the time with great gossip about dave silvestri coming up form columbus or melido missing a start with a strained groin. She really was an excellent clubhouse reporter. I suppose the voice might be appreciated if you were into show tunes. Apparently she and russo got into an argument over how he made fun of her for the roger thing yesterday at the stadium. That must have been a sonic assault. To be fair the roger signing and wil nieves getting chucked out at second after starting the season 0-26 might be our season highlights so far, so I can appreciate the excitement.
I think it's really tough for woman announcers to project with enough bass on the radio. I think the dream team would be james earl jones and vin scully with jones of course staying in character as vader for the whole broadcast.
That Waldman radio abortion was ridiculous on so many levels. Even funnier than her actual "performance" was this version that Boston radio was playing nonstop the following week. They took cuts of that Rogah episode, and overlayed audio from the fake orgasm scene in When Harry Met Sally. Its high comedy.
