I have to post this....
but a serious question: any of the West Coasters know the off-field issues on Eric Wright? Some say he is the best corner in the draft, but there was a date rape charge - which later got dismissed - that caused his stocl to plummet. We got him at #52. HE was t USC and then UNLV. Any one got any more info?

I'll talk to Austin, but if I remember correctly, this guy was supposed to be really good for USC. I remember how pissed Austin was when this charge came up and he was suspended (if this is the right guy). I'll follow up with him.
But then you traded more picks to get this guy on top of trading the other picks for Quinn? I'm still on the fence on these moves. You are not one guy away, two guys, or three guys away from being a contender. Why sacrifice all those picks for these two guys? What about depth? Once again I'm on the fence. I think you got two players that are very good and one that is a huge risk high reward type player.
I LOVE Joe Thomas at the 3rd spot. Love it!!!
I'm OK with Brady Quinn and the deal.
Happy to see them move back into the 2nd round and grab a corner.
The net of the whole 2-days is that we gave up some late round draft picks to get Brady Quinn. Granted its a risk. A risk Eric likes (should I say love).
I have confidence that Savage knows what he is doing. In free agency he has addressed the OL with Steinbach and Bently (granted Bently may never play again, but Savage went after him and got him) and used the first pick to keep building the line. As Savage said himself, ...when you are 30th in rush Off, the issue isn't the QB.
I really hope Charlie Weis and Savage are right about Quinn. There were plenty of other QBs we could have drafted in later rounds and added players at other positions. As Derek says, we aren't 1-2 players short of a good team.
Someone explain how Troy Smith falls so far. I just don't get it, and I don't want to that he is short. Have you seen the Off Line at OSU? Browns fans will get to watch what he does as he is now with Baltimore. I hope we don't live to regret this one. (Even if Troy doesn't make it at QB, he is a great athlete and could play another position)
Anyone care to explain the Detroit pick at #2 (and I don't want to hear best player in the draft) and Miami's pick at #9?
