Bonjour, mis amis!
We're blogging live from Blois, France, on the banks of the Loire river in Central France. We have a P&G plant here that I am working with for the next 4 days.
Some quick impressions of the city, the trip, and France so far:
1) Is it a rule that if you are 6'4", have a heavy-set body type and are balding, then you have to be an asshole? Thanks a lot for talking during the WHOLE flight over, Mr. ass in seat 5G.
2) I found my way around Paris and France on Monday with my only French being my handy-dandy phrasebook and my recollection of "Mille Bournes". Essence - yes! That's gas! I ran out of it a lot in Mille Bournes.
3) I do know a little Spanish, but haven't spoke it regularly in years. Nevertheless, whenever I'm stumped for a simple French word, the Spanish word comes out automatically. I can't count the number of times I said "Si" when I meant "Oui".
4) Walked around the town yesterday - European cities are so much more compact than American cities. Lot of cafes, shops, restaurants all within a square mile. I never seem to get tired of comparing American downtowns vs. European towns.
5) Let me just say this... Tony Parker is HUGE in France. He's hawking three French products on separate advertisements around here (and Paris). I have no idea what they are for - but his face is everywhere.
6) Rates for Taxis? Sacre Bleu! A 4-5 mile ride from the plant to my hotel was 13 euros. That's like 18 dollars. Ripoff!
7) We need more Schweppes in the United States.
8) You can impress people with simple French. A couple of times in the plant I said "C'est bon" or "C'est magnifique!" and eyes lit up. "Parlez-vous Francais!" they said. Hold on there, Tex, that's about it. That and "Ou'est la toilette"....
9) Soccer is on 24/7 here. Gees.
10) I rarely have lamb, but now have had it for two straight meals. Delicious. Not gamey at all.
More to come later........
and what the hell is this about Don's post? The Indians have to play this week in Milwaukee? (Thank God for internet access- I saw that today on cnnsi.com and espn.com, which is incredibly fast loading if you think about it). What's the over/under for the attendance there? I say 1463 1/2.
Au revoir for now! Congrats to my Iowa boy Zach Johnson on the Masters win!

Who are you Brent Mustberger? Live from Blois, Paris, sitting on the 25 Yaaaard Line....
Anyway, I didn't know that they had the interweb over there in France. Pretty cool.
And shouldn't we all just get a pool of money together and send Eric out to foreign countries. This would be so entertaining for me. Next stop for Eric...Ethiopia so he can ride around with the rebels and report back on the differences on how they play craps.
And the last question, how close is the nearest casino? I'm sure that you have checked into it already.
I hate Zach Johnson! I have never rooted so hard for somebody to lose the Masters. I will go out on a limb and say this man will NEVER win another tournament. All his God this and God that remarks make me want to throw up. That is all.
