What's the obsession?

Quick question:

Why does everyone highlight that their food has "applewood smoked" bacon? What is so special about Applewood bacon? Can't I just have regualr bacon? Who was part of this focus group? Should I make up a name....like "Peargrass Bacon" and sell it to Burger King for marketing purposes?
