They told me....

They told me that if I voted for John McCain, we'd have a vice president who was an idiot....

and they were right!

My God, someone should take him away during times when a glib comment can cause real harm......

Biden just said what we're all thinking. No way am I getting on the Metro or going to the mall until I know if this thing is ramping up or fizzling out. Common sense says to stay away from crowds, so although his comment wasn't "on message" (and definitely wasn't good for the economy) it wasn't what I would call dumb. I'm not sure what's going on in Ohio, but here in DC we have cause for concern. They just closed the high school up the street because a kid was infected. Our school has told us to be prepared for a possible closing in the next few weeks. Maybe if you were dealing with this type of thing on a daily basis the advice might make a bit more sense to you.

Every time I get depressed and think that the liberal democrats will dominate for the next 20 years, I realize that they have the same arrongace (as seen in your comment) that Bush had over the last 8 years. So you are cheering me up with those insults. Is that the best you have?

Laura:

No, I'm not understanding. Is there cause for concern or not? From your comment, it sounds like it is. Therefore, Biden's comments seem right on the mark.....

....so why did the White House have to back track furiously yestrrday within 2 hours of that statement? "No, no that's not what he meant."

What did he mean?

If he really means that we (All of us) should stay away from crowded places - then why the furious retractions? This is certainly not the impresion Obama gave Wed night - and, if true, then Obama should certanly be called to task for not doing more to stop the flu (for instance, we're not doing anything with the borders. We're doing nothing to "inspect" people coming in through airports).

However, if it's not a crisis and Obama is doing the prudent thing by not overreacting - then Biden should be criticized FOR overreacting.

Which is it? I'd like one message from my goverment on this. Should we panic and shut down schools? Or should we continue normal everyday life?

Clear and consistent communication from the government would be nice.

The cure is Tamiflu people....TAMIFLU!!!! Maybe they don't have Tamiflu in Mexico, but here in the US, we'll be just fine. You can bring some Mexican up here to lick my face if it will get everyone to shut up about the "Swine Flu." I'm pretty sure I can fine some Tamiflu at Ride Aid.

Cause you're making a fuss about relatively nothing. It wasn't worth more than a quick remark. And, I repeat, I'll take jabber jaws Biden putting his foot in his mouth occasionally over Palin. Am I an arrogant liberal democrat? Probably. But, I'm still hopeful that the country will be better off 4 years from now.

I'm just tired of conservative fear mongerers spreading FUD. A friend of mine told me today, "well I received it in an email" implying that whatever it was was factual.

I'm kind of ranting but this is a big pet peeve of mine. Nobody seems to do any research themselves or even think for themselves. I'm tired of googling. And, I'm not ashamed of being a liberal. It's not a bad word.

But, back to the post. I've read the quotes and listened to the audio. I, being relatively healthy, would not be afraid to fly although not to Mexico. I personally think the media is blowing it out of proportion to make a bigger story out of it. Another friend of mine is using purel on her hands every 5 minutes but she's an idiot too.

I think the message is caution and don't bathe in pork blood. Don't worry Biden will add that last tidbit in his comments next week and we can rehash it.
